We are excited to announce our brand new garden club, which commences this Tuesday 23rd April in shaa Allaah. The weekly club will give home-schooled children the opportunity to be part of our learning garden by planting and growing a variety of plants, fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Last term, some of our students worked on designing their own planet during their Science lessons.
They started with planning, focusing on areas such as what the planet would look like, what colour it is, does anyone live there etc.
The children had the freedom to create their own version considering physical aspects as well as species that may live on it. Then the children went on to making their designs into a model.
This was a fun way to encourage students to be creative by allowing them to invent their very own planet!
Our home-schooled children have been making hot air balloons last half term.
They were taught about what sculptures are, what materials can be used and tips for working with paper mache.
Children got to get their hands messy with paper mache and paint. They got to dip strips of paper into glue mixture and create 3 layers onto the balloon.

Alhamdulillaah yesterday afternoon we came to the end of another term at the Tuition Club and to celebrate the achievements of our home schooled students, we held an end of term ceremony and a parents afternoon.
During the ceremony our students were rewarded for achieving a 100% mark in all subjects on the Tuition Club behaviour and effort charts, and were presented with certificates and gifts.
Some of our Arabic students also gave a presentation and spoke about the different countries in the world. They spoke about the different places their parents are from and country of origin.
This included some lovely speeches from some of our home-schooled children.
The programme of learning activities began with the children exploring the interactive exhibition area and was then followed by an introduction by the Education Officer, which focused on learning about the various coloured bins and the waste that goes in them. The children then participated in an interactive discussion, showing how the items in the mixed recycling bin are matched with an item of science equipment that can be use to separate them (e.g. Magnet separates the steel cans).
Some of our home-schooled students have been looking at the topic: The sun, moon, and stars during Science lessons.
The children reviewed what they have learned previously and then focused on the area about phases of the moon.
Students got to learn that the moon doesn’t actually change shape—it just appears to change as it orbits Earth.
Last week our home-schooled children focused on Handmade Jewellery making during Arts & Crafts lessons.
The children started with drawing their own creative designs of their own Jewellery and looked for inspiration from other resources.
They looked at a selection of necklaces, brooches and bracelets. They designed their own piece of jewellery and then made a simple bracelet.
This term the children been exploring visual art looking at different materials such as felt, fabric different types of papers with various textures such as card, cellophane tissue paper and have looked at different shapes to create collages.
Many contemporary artists, such as Fred Tomaselli, continue to work in collage.
The boundaries of this medium are endless, and you will find many artists using some unusual materials.
A curriculum vitae (CV) is a type of résumé that highlights academic achievement.
During Arabic lessons the children have been creating a سيـــــــــرَة ذاتِيَـــــــــــــــــة (CV) advertising their abilities while giving insight into their personalities.
This activity helped the children to think about their skills and experiences using the Arabic language. Using standard headings such as
المعلومــــــــات الشَّخصيــــــــــــة (Personal information) the children presented a set of information displayed on their CV.
