Arabic Picture Matching Activity

Our Arabic young learners have been working extremely well in conducting sentences and developing their writing skills online. They also enjoyed matching the words to the correct pictures which is a way great for consolidating visual recognition skills. Using different key images, the students worked on developing basic vocab recognition for sentence writing.

KS3 Science- Red Cabbage Ph Indicator Experiment!

Our KS3 Chemistry students have been taking a closer look at Acids and Alkalis by investigating and exploring the pH scale using red cabbage indicator.

Using the home learning pack, the students were able to use a red cabbage indicator strip to test the pH values of various substances, such as lemonade, bleach, washing powder, and others.

The children explored neutralisation reactions by using red cabbage indicator to test the pH of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda before and after they react.

The indicators helped tell whether the substance was acid, alkaline, or neutral. Students got to see the indicators turn a range of colours, depending on the pH of the substance then discussed the results.

Linking Verbs Online!

Ages 12-14 home-schooled students have been learning about linking verbs during English.
A linking verb connects the subject of a sentence to a noun or an adjective that names or describes the subject. They do not show any action; they simply link the subject with the rest of the sentence.  Learners came up with their new snacks and wrote sentences and phrases containing linking verbs. Have a look at the creative designs that the students have prepared.

 

 

Africa- Second largest continent in the world!

Students have worked extremely hard creating a presentation for information about Africa within their Geography lesson.

Some decided to make a poster using images to explain which other created PowerPoint slides.

The main focus included areas such as Africa biomes, population, water, population density, gross national income.

Interesting fact about Africa:

There are 1.1 billion people who live in Africa, which is 16% of the world’s population!

Students got an opportunity to develop research skills looking at the second largest continent in the world which included fascinating facts about African countries, cities, famous people, landmarks, and animals.

Mathematical Challenges Online!

Our private students have been working through some mathematical challenge questions.

Using the online tools, they have worked through some math problems, questions, and individual assignments on various topics.

Students have been working on Ratio, Proportion, and 3D Shapes.

For each topic, a target was set which was then graded. The students completed exercises on simplifying ratios and worked on solving more complex proportion problems.

Punctuation Charts Online!

Students have been making posters to showcase Punctuation that they have been using within their writing during English lessons.

They have been focusing on features such as key vocabulary for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Writing formally in English is more than just choosing the right words in the right order.

Using punctuation in your writing helps the reader to clearly understand the message that is being conveyed.

This resource can be used as a prompt and spelling reference during independent writing tasks and other activities.

Geography Online- My Place in The World

Our home-schooled students aged 9-11 were given an assignment/ project which involved assembling, cutting out, and gluing paper circles together from a writing frame. They started creating the model by focusing on the bigger areas first and then by adding the smaller circles which highlighted the topic My Place in the World.

This project has helped increase the student’s global awareness as they begin to grasp understanding of their city, state, country, and continent. The children had a lot of fun creating these Geography crafts making learning very interactive and engaging which has helped the students explore their place in the world, from their street to the world around them.

Online Greek Food display!

Our online home-schooled children have been learning about different types of food in Ancient Greece.

Food in Ancient Greece included some of the following: grains, wheat, barley, fruit, vegetables, breads, and cake.

The Ancient Greeks grew olives, grapes, figs and wheat and kept goats, for milk and cheese. They ate lots of bread, beans and olives.

Most Greeks were farmers and they ate the food that they grew. Since Greece had a mild climate, they were able to grow many different fruits and vegetables.

The children took part in a cooking activity to explore the different types of foods which involved a tasting experience.

 

Learning about Hobbies- Online Arabic

Alhamdullilah our students have settled back after the summer holidays and have been enjoying their online lessons.

During their Arabic language classes, some of the students have been learning about their favourite hobbies and speaking about them in detail.

They also have been learning Arabic vocabulary relating to daily life and different lifestyles.

During the class discussion, the students got a chance to tell each other about their own hobbies and then consider some common hobbies from experiences with family and friends.
