STAFF AND STUDENTS SHOW CREATIVITY DURING END OF HALF TERM GARDEN ACTIVITY AFTERNOON!

Yesterday we came to the end of the first half term.

Both staff and students created some excellent vibrant models and poster designs based on our new learning garden.

Children had the opportunity to research how to grow and maintain a range of fruit, vegetables and a variety of flowers.

Research included points such what months the fruit/vegetables/flowers grown in, what the best climate would be, where to grow them, how to maintain them as well as a step by step guide of how to grow and maintain them.

The Learning Garden will have many benefits for our students.

Benefits include enhancing fine motor development, encouraging healthy eating, introducing the children to scientific concepts, can foster bonding and building relationships.

Other benefits include that it teaches responsibility, highlights the importance of taking care of the environment, develops maths skills e.g by measuring the growth of the plant and then creating a graph as well as it teaches patience and enhances the ability to plan and organise.

We look forward to the students developing the above skills by growing and maintaining what they have researched in our new learning garden throughout the academic year.
