Paper Crafts in Art!

We have been crafting in Art! our students in class 6-7 have been crafting using paper and card as the primary artistic medium for the creation of one, two or three-dimensional objects. Paper craft lend themselves to a wide range of techniques and can be folded, curved, bent, cut, glued, molded, stitched, or layered. Paper is readily available and easier to work with than the more complicated media typically used in the creation of three-dimensional artwork, such as ceramics or wood.  It is also neater to work with than paints, dyes, and other coloring materials. Paper crafts may also be used in theraputic settings, providing children with a safe and uncomplicated creative outlet to express feelings. The children throuroughly enjoyed their crafting session and were able to take home a proud peice of paper craft with the 5 pillars of Islam! 

 

 

 

 

Text Features and Visual Information

Students in year 4 have been learning about Text Features during their English lessons this week! The children took part in a fun challenge where they made their own posters using the text features that they have learned about.  Text features include all the components of a story or article that are not the main body of text. These include the table of contents, index, glossary, headings, bold words, sidebars, pictures and captions, and labeled diagrams.  Readers of all ages, especially struggling readers tend to skip over many of the text features provided within a text. To help readers understand their importance, the tutor asked the students take some time before reading to look through the photographs/illustrations, charts, graphs, or maps and talk about what they noticed. They then went on to make some predictions about what they’ll learn and started a list of questions they have based off of the text features which then were put together on posters!

We teach them skills that are important in every aspect of our lives, whether it is how to make observations, collecting information or using logical thinking to draw conclusions. Students are able to work in teams and participate in fun experiments and activities, such as baking cakes in order to understand the concept of irreversible reactions.

At The Tuition Club we provide our students with the opportunity to participate in Physical Education and we believe it to be essential to help with the development of motor skills and the enhancement of reflexes. The lessons will not only get the students fit and healthy but will be full of fun activities for them all to enjoy. We often take students to the British Wrestling Academy to make use of the space and equipment.

Tuition Club End of Term and Ceremony!

Alhamdulillaah we are coming to the end of another successful year here at The Tuition Club. We would like to inform you of some important dates;

  • Parent’s afternoon: Thursday 16th July 2020 from 10am-2:15pm
  • Children’s Ceremony: Thursday 16th July 2020 from 2:30pm Online Via skype
  • Last day of the Summer Term: Thursday 16th July 2020
  • Reopening Day: Wednesday 2nd September 2020

Parent’s Afternoon

There will be no lesson and the parent meetings will take place throughout the day, giving parents the opportunity to speak to their child’s tutors; about progress work that can be completed during the summer break.

Children’s Ceremony

In order to reward the achievements of our students, we will be having an online end of term ceremony. This is for all year groups including young learners. The ceremony will be via Skype (your child will be added in automatically) In shaa Allaah. Students who achieve a 100% mark for their effort and behavior in all subjects, will be given certificates and a small gift.

We would like to extend our appreciation and we value everyones commitment, effort and support throughout the year!

May Allah grant us all the ability to further improve and facilitate our affairs in the best of manners.

Writing An Article For a Magazine!

Extra! Extra! Teacher Boosts students’ non-fiction writing skills with using newspaper report guidelines, formats and tips!. Our Keen writers this week have been writing up a persuasive holiday article. The session provided a motivating and memorable image to stimulate discussion, before introducing the grammar element. Students have had time to practise using this feature, before undertaking a short writing task to apply what they have learnt in the context of creative writing!

The Great Fire Of London!

Our Young learners aged 5-6 have been learning all about The Great Fire of London this week!. They listened to an audio and imagined what it would have been like. The children then found out about some facts about his historical event. Did you know that The Great Fire of London happened between 2-5 September in 1666. The fire began in a bakery on Pudding Lane. Before the fire began, there had been a drought in London that lasted for 10 months, so the city was very dry!. Lots of people had houses made from wood and straw which burned easily. Houses were also built very close together. We know what happened during the fire because people back then wrote about it in letters and newspapers – for instance, Samuel Pepys wrote about it in his diary.

Artists who were alive in 1666 painted pictures of the fire afterwards, so we know what it would have looked like if we’d been there too. The class were then inspired and went on to create their own artwork of the Great Fire of London!.

 

 

 

 

 

Telling The Time in Arabic!

This week Year 6 have enjoyed learning how to tell and read the time in arabic. During the arabic lesson they have been learning:

How to ask for time in Arabic:

1- “kami as-sā’ah?”       كم الساعة؟ (What time is it?) or

2- “kami as-sā’ah al-ān?”       كم الساعة الأن؟ (What time is it now?).

How to read and tell the different forms of time (e.g):

Quarter past –       والربع

Twenty past –       والثلث
Half past –       والنص

Which phrases to use when telling someone the time:

1– innaha … –       إنها …

2– innaha as-sā’ah … –       إنها الساعة …
3– as-sā’atu tushiru ila … –

We have Made Wind Turbines!

Alternative energy sources are a big deal these days. One such source is the wind. Our Homeschooled children having been finding out how wind turbine can use the power of the wind to generate energy for their science project. The students aged 10-11, designed various turbines using diffrent blades to find out which produces the most energy, and put the wind to work!
